Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to key questions about compliance, security, and platform usage.
What is AML Core?
AML Core is a specialized software platform for maintaining AML records and implementing anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing measures in line with Montenegrin law.
What is AML/CFT Law (ZSPNFT) and how is it connected to AML Core?
ZSPNFT is the Montenegrin Law on the Prevention of Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing. AML Core is built according to ZSPNFT requirements and helps obligated entities organize KYC processes, risk assessment, record keeping, and regulatory reporting.
Who are obligated entities under AML/CFT Law (ZSPNFT)?
Obligated entities include, among others: financial institutions (microcredit institutions, factoring, leasing, payment institutions), credit institutions (banks), life insurance companies, accounting and audit firms, tax advisors, lawyers and notaries (in prescribed cases), real-estate agencies, gambling operators, dealers in vehicles and luxury goods above 10,000 €, crypto-asset service providers, etc. AML Core is adapted to all ZSPNFT-obligated categories in Montenegro.
Who is the AML platform intended for?
The platform is intended for all AML-obligated entities in Montenegro — from small accounting agencies and law offices to larger financial institutions and companies with complex client structures.
Is AML Core compliant with Montenegrin laws?
Yes. The platform is developed in accordance with the Law on the Prevention of Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing (ZSPNFT), the Personal Data Protection Law, and relevant by-laws and regulatory guidelines.
Do lawyers and notaries have obligations under ZSPNFT?
Yes. Lawyers and notaries are obligated entities when they participate in planning or executing financial and property transactions for clients. AML Core enables proper documentation, risk assessment, and activity records in compliance with the law.
Does AML Core replace the appointed AML officer?
No. AML Core is a technical platform that supports AML procedures. Legal responsibility for decisions and compliance remains with the obligated entity and its authorized person.
Does the platform make automatic decisions?
No. The platform does not make decisions that produce legal effects. Automated functionalities provide support, while final decisions are made through mandatory human assessment.
How does the KYC process work in the platform?
The user enters client data, related persons, ownership structure, and relevant information. The system enables risk assessment, sanctions screening, and generation of required documentation in line with ZSPNFT obligations.
Does the platform perform PEP and sanctions checks?
Yes. AML Core enables screening clients against international sanctions lists and politically exposed person (PEP) databases, with documented screening results.
Are sanctions lists updated automatically?
Yes. Databases are updated regularly so checks remain relevant and aligned with current international registries.
How does automatic risk assessment work?
The platform uses a predefined AML risk matrix based on regulatory criteria. The system generates a preliminary risk score.
Does the platform help with internal risk analysis?
Yes. The platform includes a predefined risk matrix, client categorization, risk factors, and change tracking over time, in line with ZSPNFT requirements.
Does the platform keep records of transactions and suspicious activity?
Yes. AML Core supports transaction records, marking suspicious activities, and generating internal reports for competent authorities.
Does the platform provide an audit trail?
Yes. All system activities are logged — including data changes, checks, and document generation — enabling full control and procedural auditability.
Is data secure?
Data is hosted in secure data centers with SSL/TLS encryption, access controls, activity logging, and two-factor authentication (2FA).
Who owns data entered into the system?
Customers remain responsible for data entered into the platform. Data-protection roles and contractual terms are defined separately.
How long is AML documentation retained?
Retention periods are defined by ZSPNFT law and other relevant regulations. The platform enables secure archiving in line with those periods.
What happens to data if I stop using the platform?
If usage ends, the user can export all data and documentation in standard formats within a reasonable period. After that, handling follows legal data retention and deletion obligations.
Does the platform support data export?
Yes. Data, reports, and documentation can be exported in PDF, Excel, and CSV formats.
Can I add multiple users within the company?
Yes. The platform supports multiple user accounts with different access levels and permission hierarchy.
Is there a limit on the number of clients?
The number of clients depends on the selected package, with upgrade options based on user needs.
What happens if I exceed DMS storage?
If storage is exceeded, the user can purchase additional space or upgrade the package without data loss.
Is special IT infrastructure required?
No. AML Core works as a cloud solution through a web browser and does not require installation or special IT equipment.
How long does onboarding take?
Basic setup takes only a few minutes. The platform is designed for simple implementation without complex technical processes.
Is the platform suitable for small obligated entities?
Yes. AML Core is designed to be easy to use and financially accessible to small and medium obligated entities in Montenegro.
How long does the free demo last?
The demo period lasts 24 hours and allows testing key functionalities without contractual obligation.
